By Lorna Ye
The day you left
the sun, bright as usual,
coated my eyes with darkness
and sent unendurable chill
freezing my senses
The day you left
the grass, green as usual,
became a bleak sight
and emitted a scent
of loneliness
The day you left
life seemed to go on as usual
but nothing is the same
in a world
without you
Author’s note: This is a poem for my grandmother, who left me without giving me a chance to say goodbye.
