The Ardor of Summer

By Lorna Ye

Stubborn heat
erases the thin trace of clouds
from the vast page of sky
blocks the unflinching breeze
to showcase its
dominance

Sun-soaked air
melts on the skin,
blending in the cloying
layer of sunblock,
soft like a feather,
stroking against senses

How can I forget —
the vigor of summer
the ardor of summer.
